Message Content
It gives me immense pleasure to learn that Tura Natya Samity, a distinguished socio-cultural organisation of West Garo Hills, is celebrating its centenary in May 2026.
Founded in 1926 in pre-independence India by a group of culture enthusiasts and like-minded individuals, the Samity has, over the decades, evolved into both a geographical landmark and a vibrant cultural arena. Through its enduring commitment to song, music, poetry, and drama, it has enriched the cultural life of Tura and contributed significantly to preserving and promoting our shared heritage.
Its recognition of education as a vital force for human development, along with its celebration of academic excellence and philanthropic initiatives during times of natural calamities, reflects its deep spirit of service and commitment to society.
By engaging in academic, cultural, and humanitarian activities, the Samity has inspired generations, fostered cultural awareness among youth, and played a vital role in shaping the cultural landscape of the town.
On this momentous occasion, I convey my best wishes for the success of the centenary celebrations and the commemorative souvenir. May Tura Natya Samity continue to inspire generations to come and remain a beacon of cultural vitality and community service.

It gives me immense pride and joy to pen these words as we celebrate 100 glorious years of Tura Natya Samity.
For a century, our organization has been a beacon of art, tradition, and community, preserving heritage and inspiring generations. This milestone is not just a celebration of our past, but a tribute to every artist, patron, member, and well-wisher who has been part of this remarkable journey.
A century ago, this organization was sown as a seed of vision and service. Today, it stands tall as a tree under whose shade generations have grown, learned, and contributed. Being appointed as the Convener of the Centenary Celebration Committee is not just an honour for me, but a responsibility I accept with humility.
This souvenir is more than pages and pictures—it is a journey through time, reflecting struggles, milestones, people, and values that shaped us. Each story within it speaks of dedication, sacrifice, and silent service by countless individuals who carried this mission forward.
As we step into our next hundred years, let this celebration remind us that legacy is not what we inherit, but what we choose to build upon. May we continue to remain open in spirit, inclusive in action, and committed to the greater good.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all committee members, volunteers, well-wishers, and every member of the Tura Natya Samity family. This celebration belongs to all of you.
